Upcoming Boudoir Marathon Dates!

This is by far THE longest I’ve gone without updating my blog! Apologies to my readers, it’s been quite a hectic quarter!

However, I have great news! I’m shooting a boudoir marathon! Earlier this month I teamed up with Angel of Sultry Soiree and we had an amazing time shooting some of the lovely ladies in her class! It made for some amazing Valentine’s Day gifts! :)

I really enjoy boudoir photography, because I think all women, no matter what shape or size, should feel beautiful. We ALL are! :)

Anyway, we had such a blast with the girls at the Gates House in Columbus, that we’re doing it again, in Columbus and ATLANTA! :) I’m super excited about this! This is a GREAT gift to give your husbands, fiances, and significant others!

We’ll be shooting March 13 in Columbus, and March 14 in Atlanta, and slots fill up quickly so ladies, make sure you sign up soon!

Here’s a sneak peek from the shoot!

In September (yes, THAT is how behind I am! Shame on me!) I got to hang with Wale of WalePhotos, his masterful lens, and perhaps theeeee CLASSIEST wedding party EVER and assist him in shooting Uche and Lekan’s big day (and eat some DELICIOUS African food)! Check out his blog for some goodies!

Here are a few of my favorites :)

Afro-Cuban Dance in Atlanta!

Okay so my blog posts are going to be a little out of order because I wanted to share these images with you first!

My good friend Charisse ran away from DC to Atlanta about a year before we did and she’s a wildly talented teacher of Afro-Cuban dance, (and she makes DELICIOUS black-eyed peas, greens and mashed sweet potatoes) and I’m sure if you show up to the D.A.I.R. Project on Thursdays from 7:30-9ish, you’ll definitely have an amazing time. There is a small fee, 12 bucks, but it’s definitely worth it!

I had the opportunity to document her dance classes when she was in DC and jumped for joy when I found out that she is teaching classes in Atlanta and needed to come up for air a little from school (I realized last week I spent on average about 12 hours a day there!), I grabbed my camera and headed out :)

Here are a few of my favorites:

Charisse!

Sekou Alaje and his drummers:

Okay, I’d definitely recommend seeing the SLIDESHOW!<—Click!

Apologies for not updating sooner. We’ve been horribly busy packing! Yes, that’s right! We’re moving to Atlanta in NINETEEN DAYS! I can hardly believe it. I’m going to miss DC and all the lovely friends I’ve made, but I’ll BRB :) I have a few very cool weddings in the D of C in 2009 so I can run up to the Washington Monument and kiss the cool marble :) and go to Julia’s Empanadas and enjoy a warm Jamaican Patty and go to the Corcoran and Hishhorn and stare at art for hours up and DEFINITELY catch up with errybody (yes, DC slang right there)!

Anywho, I’ll save my reminiscing for when I’m actually gone :) and tell you about Becca and Adrian’s big day. This was a wedding shot for Julie Napear, my buddy and awesome photographer, and when I met Becca I knew we’d hit it off immediately. She and Adrian are such a sweet couple, and we counted down the moooonnnths to their big day with lots of emails back and forth and much needed happy hours :)

Finally the big day came and I gotsta snapping :)

She got the nicest gifts for her bridesmaids; a sterling silver bracelet with their names engraved!

Lovely shoes by Kate Spade, something borrowed from her mama’s jewelery box, and the lovely lovely (heavy! Becca is a TROOPER, because it had lots and lots of gorgeous layers!) dress. Hair and makeup were done by Cynthia and Courtney of Earth Diva.

One of my favorite shots of the day!

Becca and Adrian, it has been awesome to get to know you two this year :) congratulations!

Janelle Monae saves the day!

Last night I got to see one of my favorite up and coming artists, Janelle Monae, in the D.C. area, no less :)

She’s an independent artist hailing from Atlanta by way of Kansas, got her break with Outkast, did her own thing and started the indie label the Wondaland Arts Society, and recently signed with Bad Boy, so I’m positive she will be a familiar name and (hopefully) change the state of music.

Her sound is a mix of everything, I think, and the kitchen sink, her band is amazing, and when I think nobody’s watching, I sing out loud (and loudly) to her CD in my car (and not to toot my own horn, but you’re looking at an All County Chorus finalist, for Lake Ridge Middle School, REPRESENT), and hope that whoever’s looking at me rock out doesn’t think I’m having a seizure or anything. But I’m certain that all other Janelle Monae fans have similar reactions to her music, so it’s whatevs :)

Anyway, some snapshots from the evening :)
